Pauly and Gina Te Whata from Salsa Crew NZ will be at Salsa Tumbao 2024 with a Cubaton workshop - join the class as these two show you how to move every muscle in your body.

Salsa Crew NZ are such a fun team - they're so great at making sure you feel welcome. Gina brings a touch of glamour; Pauly oozes talent; Wendy and Tony make you feel like you're part of the family.

They have a fantastic community connection in South Auckland. We love that their classes include a little of everything – Salsa; Samba; Bachata; Merengue; Reggaeton; Mambo; Cumbia...

So you get a well-rounded understanding of Latin dance.

Pauly and Gina have been teaching Latin Dance classes around Auckland for the past 20 odd years.

Tutoring students in various Latin styles and performing  at high profile events. They have run workshops at a multitude of festivals, and performed with top notch Dance troupes. Pauly danced with Latin Fever, and both Pauly and Gina danced with Celi Fonseca (Fashion Brazil) and Mega.

They've danced at Villagrad in Hamilton, at the Easter Show, and at many corporate functions. Another highlight was guest appearance on Pukana TV, dancing salsa. For the last 7 to 8 years they have danced with the amazing Salsa Crew NZ.

They travelled abroad to Dubai and Bahrain, where they performed at Savage Garden Latin Club. Whilst in Dubai and Bahrain, they learnt alot from the Military Latin guys who frequented the club. In February 1999 they performed with a Chilean band 6 nights a week at Bahrain Savage nightclub. Their guest every Thurs night was Murza - the timbalee and percussionist for Santana.

They share a crazy impressive dance resume.

Talking flavour, Gina said - "It's so important for a dancer to feel the music and blend that with heart, passion and soul in body movement. Hitting the accents in your body rolls, chest and hip pops is vital. It's the icing on the cake."

Cubaton is certainly one of their favourite styles to dance. The isolation of body movement and control can be daunting for new students. But with technique properly demonstrated and explained, it can be easily mastered.  Students need to be comfortable with their body and open-minded to a new style of dance.
When you embrace the movements and enjoy the dance - it shows.

Paul and Gina love how the Cuban dance culture in Auckland has become more popular. And can't wait to see it develop further.
They are super excited to work with all the amazing teachers on the day and the passionate students.

"See you there beautiful peeps. Lesssgooo!!"
