NORTH SHORE Latin Dance

Alyx Ty from NorthShore Latin Dance is bringing a high energy Cubaton workshop to Salsa Tumbao in November 2023.

Cubaton is a snap-shot of modern Cuba – pulling in influences of Reggaeton, Salsa, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Rap and pop music . The music combines the sounds of Timbales, Salsa, Timba and of course Reggaeton.

Alyx has an amazing mix of dance styles at his fingertips - so is the perfect person to teach you Cubaton!

Alyx - as his social media says - was made in the Philippines. The dance bug hit at the early age of 7. In his teens he formed a Hip-Hop and Breakdance crew. Ballroom? Jazz? Swing? Cubaton? Easy.

He was first introduced to Street Latin in high school and took to it like a fish to water. Alyx has danced; performed and competed at multiple festivals in NZ and overseas and has won an incredible number of dance competitions. He currently teaches at NorthShore Latin Dance.

NorthShore Latin Dance runs classes at The Backyard bar on Mondays and Tuesdays.
